How we keep 35mm safe
The short version. Everyone agrees to the rules before they join. Everything people post is checked before others see it. You can report or block anyone from anything they post, and we act on every report within 24 hours.
Rules everyone agrees to
- Everyone accepts our Terms of Use at sign-up. They have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behaviour.
- You have to be 16 or older. Accounts of people aged 16 and 17 start private, so only followers they approve see their posts. Where the law requires it, we also check the age range on your Apple Account.
Checked before it's posted
- Words. Reviews, comments, Explore posts and replies, playlists, usernames, names and bios are checked on our servers before they're saved. Slurs, sexual content involving minors, sexual violence and encouraging someone to hurt themselves are refused.
- Photos. Every profile and review photo is checked automatically before anyone else can see it. Graphic violence and self-harm are refused and deleted. Sexual photos are refused and held privately, never published; any that may show a child are kept for the report US law requires, and the account is suspended.
- Voice notes. Voice notes on reviews are transcribed automatically and the words get the same checks as text. A note that fails is deleted.
- Search. Adult films and performers are kept out of search, including ones the film database doesn't flag.
- Spam and floods. There are limits on how fast any account can post, comment, follow and vote, set well above what a person does by hand.
Checks run on our servers, not only in the app, so they apply however something is posted.
You're in control
- Report. Tap ••• on any review, comment, Explore post, reply or playlist, or on someone's profile, and choose Report. What you report disappears for you straight away.
- Block. From the same menu. You stop seeing each other everywhere on 35mm, any follows between you end, and they aren't told.
- Private account. Only followers you approve see your logs, reviews and posts. Turn it on in Settings.
- Notifications. Choose which kinds reach your phone in Settings, then Notifications.
People act on reports
- Every report is reviewed by a person within 24 hours.
- We remove content that breaks the rules and suspend accounts that do. A suspended account can't post, comment, like, vote, follow or upload, but can still block and report.
- If something appears to show the sexual abuse of a child, the account is suspended at once, and we preserve the material and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, as US law requires.
Intimate images
If an intimate photo of you is on 35mm without your consent, report the review or profile with Intimate image of me shared without consent. The photo comes off 35mm for everyone straight away, and we review it within 48 hours. Without an account, email safety@35mm.contact with the link to the review or profile and a line saying it's you and you didn't consent. Please don't attach the image.
Your privacy
Automated checks use a small number of providers, named in our Privacy Policy. They receive only what's being checked, not your account.
