Copyright Policy

Effective September 24, 2026

The short version. If something posted on 35mm uses your work without permission, tell our copyright agent using the steps below and we'll take it down. Accounts that repeatedly infringe are closed.

35mm respects the rights of creators and follows the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). This policy covers content people post on 35mm: reviews, comments, posts, playlists, profile photos, review photos and voice notes.

Reporting infringement

Send a written notice to our designated copyright agent that includes:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature, as the copyright owner or someone authorised to act for them.
  2. A description of the copyrighted work you believe was infringed.
  3. Where the material is on 35mm: the username that posted it, and what it is (for example, "the second photo on @name's review of Heat"). A screenshot helps.
  4. Your name, postal address, phone number and email address.
  5. A statement that you believe in good faith that the use isn't authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
  6. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or are authorised to act for the owner.

Counter-notices

If something of yours was removed and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you can send a counter-notice to the same agent with: your signature; what was removed and where it was; a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification; your name, address and phone number; and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, outside the US, any judicial district where 35mm may be found) and will accept service from the person who sent the original notice. Unless they tell us within 10 to 14 business days that they've filed a court action, we may restore the material.

Repeat infringers

We close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe copyright, in appropriate circumstances.
